Commencement

Frequently Asked Questions

This list of Frequently Asked Questions will be updated regularly to address questions from graduates and family members. In the interim, please email [email protected] with any immediate questions.

Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2.

Graduating members of the Class of 2021 (undergraduate, graduate and medical students) who are on-campus or in the Providence area will attend Commencement ceremonies in-person in accordance with public health protocols. Those who are studying remotely during the spring will attend virtually.

Families and guests will attend virtually rather than in-person in an effort to prioritize the public health safety of our students and the local community.

No. Booking travel and accommodations is not necessary since families and guests will attend virtually rather than in person. If plans have already been made, we encourage you to review the refund policies of your carriers and hotels.

Reunion 2021 classes (those ending in 1’s and 6’s) and Reunion 2020 classes (those ending in 0’s and 5’s) will participate. Additional information will be made available on the Reunion website soon.

Originally, Brown had hoped to host a once-in-a-lifetime double Commencement and Reunion Weekend to cheer on both Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 graduates. Unfortunately, the public health situation has made this infeasible. Alumni Relations is working with the Class of 2020 to find a meaningful way to honor their achievements in the coming year.

Further information, including a more detailed schedule of events for the weekend, will be communicated and added to the Commencement and Reunion websites in the coming weeks. If you have any questions in the meantime, please email the planning team at [email protected]
