Commencement

Forums

Led by faculty, alumni and distinguished guests, academic and topical colloquia are an integral part of Commencement and Reunion Weekend.

Commencement Forum topics cover the gamut, from individuals sharing their personal career journeys, to panel discussions on social issues of the day, to researchers explaining the impact of their work, and more. Commencement Forum titles are announced in late spring, and all family members and guests are welcome to attend.

Examples of forum titles from past years include:

  • Deep Learning from Nature and Machines;
  • The Rule of Law and the Endurance of American Democracy;
  • Fair Game: How Play Equity Promotes Health Equity;
  • Righting Medicine: Shifting from Trauma-Informed Practices to Healing-Centered Care;
  • Education and America’s Future: What We Need to Know;
  • Memoir, Meaning and Healing; and many others.
