BrownAlert System

Guests visiting campus for Commencement and Reunion Weekend are highly encouraged to opt in to BrownAlert, the University’s emergency campus alert system that texts individuals within minutes if an urgent situation arises. In the event of an emergency, the BrownAlert System will deliver advisories and instructions to guests, students, faculty and staff who have opted in to the system.

Brown students, faculty and staff who have already opted in to BrownAlert do not need to take additional action to receive alerts during Commencement and Reunion Weekend.

Brown students, faculty and staff who have not opted-in to BrownAlert should follow the instructions on the BrownAlert System webpage.

Please note that subscribers who reply via text to alerts will not receive a response. For emergency assistance, call Brown’s Department of Public Safety at 781-863-4111.

In case of an emergency, you will receive a brief text message alerting you to the situation and providing instructions if necessary.

Yes. Mobile numbers are kept securely in the BrownAlert System and will only be used for the purpose of communicating about a campus emergency. All mobile numbers for guests who have opted in to BrownAlerts will be removed from the system on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. See the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for the system.

Text messages are sent on an as-needed basis depending on the nature of the emergency.

You may text LEAVE to 77295 to be removed from the system at any time. You will automatically be removed on Tuesday, May 28.

There is no cost to opt in to the system; however, data and message rates may apply.

In the event of an emergency, information will be posted to brown.edu.
