Event Access and Ticketing for Brown Commencement and Reunion Weekend

As part of Brown’s commitment to community safety and security, a new ticketing system for the 2026 Commencement and Reunion Weekend will be implemented that will include controlled access to campus buildings and outdoor spaces around the College Green.

All members of the community, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, guests and vendors, will be required to show the appropriate access bands or badges to access the College Green area and other campus locations throughout the weekend.

This page includes information about ticketing, including FAQs and a quick guide to who requires tickets. Visit the Wristband Registration page for more information. We are committed to maintaining the celebratory and memorable experience that is so unique to Brown’s Commencement and Reunion Weekend while maintaining a secure and inclusive environment for all.

Graduating Students and Guests

All graduating students — including undergraduate seniors, master’s and professional, doctoral and medical students — and their guests will be ticketed via a scannable wristband that should be worn throughout the weekend. The wristband will provide access to the College Green, Simmons Quad and Front Green areas, including for the Master’s Ceremony on Saturday and the University Procession, College Ceremony and University Ceremony on Sunday.

Graduating students will request wristbands for themselves and guests attending Commencement through a registration site, which will open in April, and will pick up wristbands in advance of the weekend at established times and locations. Anyone who plans to attend Commencement events in support of a graduating student — including current students, family and friends — is considered a guest and needs a wristband.

Ticketing details for other Commencement events and ceremonies will be outlined on this Commencement website in the coming weeks, but members of the campus community are encouraged to check with their departments for additional guidance.

Faculty

To participate in the Procession and University Ceremony on Sunday and gain access to the College Green, Front Green and Simmons Quad areas over Commencement and Reunion Weekend, faculty members must wear a registered wristband. Faculty should wear wristbands even if they have a separate access badge provided through their department.

To register for a wristband, faculty members must complete the Ceremonies and Procession RSVP form by Friday, May 8. (A link to the form was emailed with the faculty invitation to Commencement.) Faculty members will be sent a confirmation email with a code they will use to print their wristband at a designated location before Commencement and Reunion Weekend.

Faculty are responsible for printing their own wristbands in advance of Commencement and Reunion Weekend to ensure they are able to fully participate without delays that may impact the experience for graduating students and guests.

Staff and Vendors

Brown staff members, nongraduating students and vendors working Commencement and Reunion Weekend will receive separate access badges for event locations, depending on their roles. If you are a manager or event organizer who will have staff working on campus during Commencement and Reunion Weekend, you will need to request access badges for your staff.

If you have typically requested access badges in the past, you will receive information about how to do so in the coming weeks. If you are new to requesting access badges for your team, or are unsure of the process, please email commencement@brown.edu for information.

Alumni

Reunion Alumni & Recent Grads

All alumni invited to Reunion (classes ending in 1 and 6, as well as recent graduates) are automatically registered for Procession as part of Reunion Weekend registration. Registered attendees will receive an access badge, which can be picked up at Reunion check-in. Access badges are required to access the Procession staging area. Visit the Reunion Weekend event page to learn more.

Non-Reunion Alumni

Those not in a Reunion year who plan to march in the Procession can register through the Procession registration portal. Access badges can be picked up in advance. Find details and instructions for registering on Brown Alumni & Friends.

Events Requiring Additional Tickets

Some Commencement and Reunion Weekend events have limited seating and require additional tickets, including Campus Dance on Friday and the Warren Alpert Medical School Ceremony on Sunday. Graduating students and others participating in ticketed events should continue to consult this website leading up to the weekend.

Seating Guidance for Families

As always, due to limited seating capacity, only graduating seniors are allowed inside and on the grounds of the First Baptist Church in America during Baccalaureate on Saturday and the College Ceremony on Sunday. Family members and guests are invited to watch a livestream of both events from designated seating, to be announced.

Guests of graduating master’s and professional students and doctoral students will be seated in designated areas at these ceremony locations. Wristbands are required to access the College Green for the Master’s Ceremony on Saturday.

Guests of graduating medical students must have separate tickets to access the ceremony location at First Unitarian Church.

All graduating students must have wristbands to participate in the University Procession and Ceremony, and guests must have wristbands to view these events on the College Green.
