Medical School Speaker

Speakers at the Medical School Ceremony include a faculty member and member of the graduating class, who reflects on the class's journey into medicine and how their Brown medical education will shape their practice as physicians.

Joukowsky Family Professor of Medicine Dr. Louis B Rice and M.D. Class of 2026 graduate Meylakh Barshay will speak to members of the graduating M.D. class during the Warren Alpert Medical School’s 52nd Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 24, part of Brown University's 258th Commencement and Reunion Weekend.

How the Medical Student Speaker Is Chosen

Graduating medical students self-nominate for class speaker. They submit a one- to two-page outline of their speech, including title, which is shared with all members of the graduating class. Students then vote for the speaker they wish to address their class.
